Today's recovery journal meditation is about dropping old behavior. We attain new behaviors by seeing good qualities in others and mimicking them. We add role models into our recovery tool kit. Surprisingly, one day it becomes our natural -real behavior.

Day Six: Learning by Example
Just when my view of the world is at maximum hostility, someone goes the extra mile to show me unattached kindness. Then goes another mile to take responsibility they didn’t have to take. Despite my hostile view.
Somehow my vision is now clear due to the impression left behind, that lingers unconsciously and connects in my mind’s eye. The impressed idea graphs a new pathway, that adds serenity to my step. The pathway is simple to understand, this is just who and how this person is. This person is a role model for me.

As I read day six, I am reminded of the height my attitude & self-will can take me to when I am locked in on my way of doing things, or am harboring hurt feelings, or dwelling on ideas that life stinks, cause I’m not getting what I want! We often call this “stinking thinking” mentalities!
I can't say this strong enough across this page –it is nothing short of a miracle when an ordinary person reaches pass our mental & physical mask -to our heart, in spite of our negative display of character. That's God working through people and it helps us.
This meditation relates to Step 6, -We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
Step six unveils our willingness to continue to change and grow in areas concerning our flaws by becoming entirely ready to let help inside. It shows us how our defects of character or our flaws -like hostility and close-mindedness, can be turned around with kindness.
