Day Twenty-Four Exhaustion is Self-Abuse

Making a decision to stop whatever you are doing, to take some kind of action to care for yourself is a necessary action. Be it ten minutes or ten hours. This time to regroup really goes a long way toward respecting yourself, your right to be, and your ability to do what is personally needed to continue on your way. It is the furthest thing from a selfish act, because it allows you to truly give to others, because you truly gave to yourself.

You can’t give what you don’t have. Exhaustion is self-abuse, so go take care of yourself.

We choose to stop running our -self into the ground. It is necessary to take a few moments of Private time to disconnect from the rush of life & mentally unwind to remember that we are a human being for a short time here. Don’t make it a race.

In recovery, we practice self-care in many ways here are a few. We learn to stop mistreating our–self & others by attending recovery meetings, meditational literature, music, serenity walks, laughing, preparing meals, -at home stress relief techniques, or calmly sitting.

As I start my day without the use of chemicals, the day will move quickly and require my attention, this is good knowing that I can show up and be responsible. However, I am Now-reminded to “slow down and smell the roses.” Google that phrase! Ponder it a moment for self-care!

Focus today's recovery meditation on Step Four -We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Of the many things the Fourth Step helps us with, starting to own our part in situations by recognizing patterns both good and not so much. The ones that are destructive we are guided to new behaviors. Running ourselves into the ground is an pattern to break by simply taking a time out.

Homework: Google Step Four to gain more insight on how it can help you too.
