Day 26: Journal Volume l -Say It Like It Is

Today’s Recovery Journal Meditation is about refraining from acting on negative mindsets and behavior.

Day Twenty-Six: Say It Like It Is

God, You already know that I cannot focus to care about myself right now. My mind is just going full speed with too many have-to-dos, to consider where my behaviors and attitudes are headed today, or if I’m giving a damn about anybody else. Keeping my mouth shut is the best I can do, to keep from lashing out at others. I know I am acting rude and for once I see it, but still, I am grabbing at straws looking to somehow counter-act my attitude.

Help me to find this caring moment and hold onto it. So I don’t have to apologize again and again today, and then again on a different day.

In a recovery atmosphere, we learn to talk with a Power Greater than our –self and we learn to tell someone our twisted thoughts. This action gives us a choice again, -to act differently. So, act differently, now.

In the past, if I was taking my jacket off it was not because I liked you & wanted to talk about human living conditions, quite the contrary. If my jacket were coming off destructive things were seconds away. Thank God, I learned in recovery to refrain from my ill-mannered aggressiveness.

As I am headed into this day I am reminded to talk about the things troubling me, now. I will practice not lashing out at the world around me & keep my hands to myself –unless of course, it’s to give a hug –the replacement for twisted mindsets. Want a hug? Than Give a hug.

Focus today's recovery meditation on the Eighth Step -We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

Step 8 helps us reconnect with society on a deeper level by seeking the willingness to understand the road we are on and straighten it up "a bit". We apply simple changes that can improve it. In real life, -it takes "a bit" to become willing sometimes. What's important to realize is that we are in the process of growing and that is where the hope is.
