Day Three: Standing Firm with Love

Todays recovery journal meditation is about realizing our responsibility to the people that are close to us and not letting our own past mistakes to be a barrier to being a positive force today! Be them family, friend or foe, or an unknown passer-by.

Day Three: Standing Firm with Love Careful with my heart there, daughter. Though you may be grown and living life apart from me now, that does not somehow graduate you to “I can decide and do any old thing and Mom is just going to have to accept it.” Though this may all be true, mom can decide and do any old thing and daughter is just going to have to accept it. After all, I had this same argument with God, who has shown me that -I at times do not make good decisions, as you already know. So, Momma is not about to accept any old thing. I love you too much for that. I’d rather you be mad at me than hold back who I am when it comes to loving you.

If you have a problem with this, take it up with God. Because He made me your mother.

Right now -I apply this to whoever crosses my path as I go through my day by not co-signing, ignoring, or getting into co-hoots with another’s destructive behavior. Part of loving the people in our life is not being a doormat by ignoring issues or saying -ohh that’s ok! Choosing instead to be a firm, but not rude, voice in action and love.

This meditation also directs us to a Step four reflection; to not allow our past mistakes to cloud the decisions we make today. We practice this by speaking clearly when needed.
